cyclical nature process

I want to communicate the feeling of "home" and warmth in trees and nature by showing creatures separated from each other and as the roots/branches circle around and a niche is formed where everything melts together.

  1. It looks great so far and I'm seeing how everything is melting together but I'm not really getting a sense of warmth and home yet. The figures are done really well.

  2. This is a very expressive piece so far, and I think the solid lines of the tree in the background could be better defined to enhance the motion of the objects around it.

  3. I love how you are using your own imagery for this project. I think if you added some color, or some contrast, I would get your concept more.

  4. I really love how you've taken the shapes of the trees from your other images and brought them into this one. Your concept is interesting, and you're definitely on your way to bringing it into your image.

  5. this is a good concept, i hope you'll use some of the tree photos in the final one! I liked those previous posts with the composite trees - they had that circle as well. how are you planning on achieving warmth? color?

  6. I'm really loving the motion and fluidity I'm seeing in all of these images so far. The concept is a great and I think you're definitely heading in the right direction. The sepia toned image that collages the drawings and nature is sort of eery looking. I really love the shapes and textures you created in the first three images! I think it would be interesting to combine something like that with the drawings.. but I'm really interested in seeing some colors involved and how they add to the concept. I agree with whats been said above... the melting is really working - I'm looking forward to seeing how the warmth of home feel is going to be woven in.

  7. Hey Christina, I really enjoy your hand drawn images, however, they are lost in the composition you have above, maybe consider adding splashes of color into your piece to better differentiate your figures, think watercolors.

  8. Hi Christina

Nice idea, good start. looks like you are not going to use the photograph in the final, which is ok. The drawing gives you a unique mark on paper that is hard to emulate on the computer. seems like it starts to go "escher"-esque then not in places. the transitions seem to need to be tightened up. bird's nests might be something you want to incorporate as well, going by your statement above. also curious as to why it is monochromatic. maybe color might help the overall image compositionally. good start.

  9. I love the hand drawn element of this artwork. I think you need to throw in some more images of the branches and the tree trunk to tie in the idea of warmth and listening. Maybe incorporate photos of yourself in the middle or 'safe part' as you are really the focal element to the piece. I can't wait to see where it goes next, your drawings in your work is very unique.
